Cut flower care instructions
Verify the water supply instantly upon arrival. Fill a bowl or sink with water, fully submerge the stem ends under the water and cut them at a 45 degree angle using a knife, pruner or scissors. Trimming your flower stems at a 45-degree angle will ensure that they have plenty of surface area to take in water and that they don't stand flat on the bottom of the vase.
Check vase water level every other day. Add water with flower food as required. If the water gets cloudy, change the entire vase water with new preservative water. Change foliage that will sink under the water line in your vase. Regulary re cut stem bottoms half inch. This fresh cut is the reason for good water uptake through the flower stem.
Wedding flowers
Modern wedding centerpieces are the perfect way to form the theme of your wedding. The solution that works well for many modern wedding centerpieces is to to plunge the whole flower in water. This can be accomplished with tulips, roses and cymbidium orchids.
It may be better to stay with the professionals. Even if you are a gardening expert, you're still going to be preoccupied in the days leading up to your wedding and on the actual day of your big event to handle the wedding flowers yourself.
Sympathy flowers
Sympathy roses and Sympathy plants are traditionally sent to the church, mortuary or funeral home. Most churches, mortuaries and funeral homes have a visitation, viewing or wake where friends and associates come to pay their respects. Appropriate sympathy flower manners are to send Sympathy Baskets or sympathy flowers to the mortuary, church or funeral home prior to the initial visitation hours.
Specialty arrangements such as bibles and crosses, are Appropriate for delivery to the funeral home, mortuary or church. Specialty arrangements are displayed on an easel and make a spectacular presentation.
